Cocky's Reading Express visit Doby's Mill Elementary

Saturday, January 09, 2010 by Ginger Catoe
On Friday, Mrs. Long, our Media Specialist, arranged for Cocky's Reading Express to come and visit our Kindergartners.  I think that I was more excited than the children were, as I am an avid Gamecock fan, and I absolutely LOVE Cocky!!!  The USC students and Cocky read to our Kindergartners who were wrapped up in every word they read.  What an outstanding way to end a great week of instruction.  At the end of the presentation, the students shared that each Kindergartner would receive a free book, which they will receive in the next few weeks.  Thanks, Mrs. Long, for coordinating this wonderful event.  I was so excited for the children to have this great literacy experience as well as see my favorite collegiate mascot, Cocky!

Do you think I showed my excitement????  (P. S.  I even had a heart to heart talk with Cocky about the Gamecock's bowl loss in Birmingham when Cocky came to my office before he left the school!)

It was a fun time, Mrs. Catoe. How nice for those students and the University to provide this service for our students. Even the Clemson fans had a great time!
